Efforts to support Agent Orange victims
Friday, 07 August 2009
Many events have been held across the country to celebrate Agent Orange
(AO) Day and raise funds for AO victims and the poor.
The Red Cross chapter in Ho Chi Minh City will hold a walk for AO
victims on August 9 and launch a campaign later to raise money for AO victims
and the poor.
The walk is expected to attract nearly 10,000
people from all walks of life.
More than VND4 billion collected from a sponsored
walk and an art programme last year was used to repair or build houses and buy
gifts for AO victims and the poor.
Meanwhile, the Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin
Victims in the central province
of Quang Ngai has
received donations worth more than VND4 billion over the past four years.
Quang Ngai province is home to
over 17,000 AO victims.
