Increasing children’s awareness of global climate change
Thursday, 06 August 2009
A seminar on increasing children’s awareness of global climate change was
held in Hanoi
on August 5 for 126 students from 21 cities and provinces nationwide.
It was organised by the Ministry of Labour,
Invalids and Social Affairs in coordination with the United Nations Fund for
Children and Education to prepare Vietnamese children for the world children’s
forum on climate change slated for November 28-December 4 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
They were taught about the issues related to climate
change, the causes and effects of climate change on the environment and methods
to minimise its impact.
It is necessary to encourage
young people to come up with solutions for environmental protection as more
than 46 percent of the world’s population is under 25 and many of them want to
build a better world. It is hoped that young people will help minimise the
impact of climate change on the environment and people’s lives.
