More than 300 academics and scientists from Viet Nam and several other countries have gathered in HCM City to discuss energy, environment, and climate change issues.
At the inaugural International Conference on Energy, Environment and Climate Change, held yesterday by the HCM City University of Industry and Belgium's University of Liege, they presented 60 papers on the three issues.
Delegates from Belgium, Japan, the Philippines, Korea, Germany, and other countries discussed the social and environmental impacts of climate change and solutions for adapting, energy use, greenhouse gases, and others.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh, who is also the president of the HCM City-based university, said he chose the three major topics because they had a close relationship with each other.
The delegates will go on field trips to the Can Gio Mangrove Forest and Cat Tien National Park today and tomorrow.
The conference will become an annual feature and universities taking part will take turns to chair it.
The HCM City and Belgian universities have a tie-up for science and environmental management training.
