Việt Nam’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson rejected recent statements by the US and the European Union regarding the appeal court for Cù Huy Hà Vũ, saying they were an intervention in Việt Nam’s internal affairs.
Spokesperson Nguyễn Phương Nga voiced the rejection on August 9 while answering reporters’ question on Việt Nam’s response to the above-mentioned statements.
She said “The State of Việt Nam is the state of the rule of law. Like other countries, Vietnam handles all law violations in accordance with regulations of the Vietnamese and international laws, including the International Convention on Civil and Political Rights. There is not so-called “prisoner of conscience” in Việt Nam.”
Cù Huy Hà Vũ committed to disseminating propaganda against the state of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam. The Vietnamese court issued a right verdict, the spokesperson stressed.
