In an announcement made
public on March 28, the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), a public
broadcasting television service with 354 member TV stations in the
United States, said that the next Ken Burns documentary project for PBS
is the documentary series which will explore the military, political,
cultural, social, and human "dimensions" of the Vietnam war.
According to the PBS, the documentary series will focus on the human experience of the conflict, using eyewitness testimonies of ordinary people – American and Vietnamese – whose lives were impacted by the war.
The series will also tell the story of the millions of American citizens who became deeply opposed to the war in Vietnam, taking to the streets in some of the largest protest demonstrations the nation has ever seen, PBS said.
Ken Burns had made documentaries on the Civil War of the U.S. and World War II. PBS is rebroadcasting Burns' "The Civil War" next week to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the beginning of that conflict. His documentary about the Vietnam War will be broadcast in 2016./.
