FDI worth over $6 billion in first three months

Vietnam has attracted more than US$ 6 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first three months of 2009, which is equal to 60 percent of last year’s first-quarter figure.

In the reviewed period, the country licensed 93 new FDI projects with a total of nearly US$2.2 billion in registered capital, representing 48 percent and 44 percent respectively of last year’s figures.

Another 34 FDI projects already in operation have been allowed to raise their registered capital by an additional amount of more than US$3.8 billion.
