Rice export turnover passes USD1 billion |

(CPV)– The Vietnam Food
Association reported on May 17th that total exported rice volume
reached nearly 2.3 million tonnes since early this year, worth USD1.059
billion.
In early May, Vietnam exported 304,994 tonnes of rice, worth USD135.67 million. Asia, Africa, and the Middle East remain the major export markets for Vietnamese rice.
Vice President of VFA, Pham Van Bay said that with contracts signed by the end of April to export 4 million tonnes of rice, increasing by 13.7 % compared to the same period last year, the winter – spring crop is expected to be sold out.
The country is expected to export 1.3-1.4 million tonnes of rice in May and June 2019, raising the figure in the second quarter to 3.3 million tones, said VFA.
