Dong Nai province expands education among ethnic minority people PDF Print E-mail

According to the committee for ethnic minorities of the southern province of Dong Nai, so far 100% of communes and villages inhabited by ethnic minority people have access to the national power grid, schools, medical stations and post offices. Since 2003 GDP growth in ethnic minority regions has reached over 6%.

The province pays special attention to education and vocational training for ethnic minority people. Facilities at ethnic minority schools have been invested in more efficiently. The provincial boarding school and the Tan Phu and Dinh Quan inter-district boarding school are attended by 750 pupils each year. The province is also planning to build another boarding school in Xuan Loc district to teach 500 pupils.

Together with the policy to send ethnic minority students to colleges and universities, since 2003, Dong Nai province has earmarked a great deal of capital to work with a vocational training college of the Ministry of National Defence to train 2,300 young ethnic minority people to become skilled workers and medical workers.

Many people, after being trained, have returned to their localities to work as key and effective cadres.
