The
Fatherland Front Committee in Ho Chi Minh City
has spent VND500 million buying Tet gifts for poor people who were recently
affected by floods and storms in the south-central province of Phu Yen.
Meanwhile, students at the Luong The Vinh high school
in HCMCity have mobilised VND650 million for
poor students in flood-stricken areas.
Under the “Tet for the Poor” programme, the Vietnam
Fatherland Front Central Committee has allocated VND172 million to buy Tet
gifts for the poor. The Committee presented 568 gifts worth more than VND118
million to poor people in Quang Binh and visited and gave gifts to elderly and
poor patients at the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hspital in Dong Hoi city.
Poor people in Quang Binh have been provided with 200
tonnes of rice to welcome the lunar New Year.
The Hoa Binh provincial People’s Committee has donated
gifts worth VND200,000 each to 31,800 poor households in the province.
Districts and towns in Hoa Binh have also raised funds to help the poor so that
every person can have a happy New Year.
