Tuesday, 20 October 2009
The
Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) on October 19 received over 211,000 Euros in kind from Germany as relief aid to Ketsana storm victims
in the three hardest-hit central
provinces.
The
supplies, including essential household utensils, will be distributed to some
4,000 families affected by the disaster, said the VRC.
VRC President Tran Ngoc Tang said the aid from the
German Government and the German Red Cross is in line with Vietnam ’s
policy of helping the worst-hit victims of the storm.
German Ambassador Rolf Schulze said the aid was
part of an overall 380,000 EUR package committed by his Government to Ketsana
victims in Vietnam.
He added that Germany has also pledged to
contribute 20 percent of the European Union’s total aid commitment to Ketsana
victims in the Southeast Asian country./.
