Climate change impacts, including extreme
weather, increased frequency and intensity of natural disasters such as typhoon
and floods, will threaten people’s lives and lead to serious disorders like
pollution of water sources, according to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and
Rural Development, Dao Xuan Hoc.

International experts have called for Vietnam to establish a national
platform for disaster risk reduction within the next year as the effect of
climate change loom ever larger on the horizon.

VN to host int’l forum on climate change in Mekong Delta

The PM just agreed that the Office of
Government and the Ministry of Natural Resource and Environment will jointly
organize the first international forum on climate change in the Mekong Delta on
October 15-16 in the southern city of Cần
Thơ.
The rural environment is being polluted at an
alarming rate, experts warn and call on authorised agencies to adopt measures
to ensure sustainable development of both the agricultural sector and the
overall economy.
