Developing
policies for disabled people was the subject of a meeting held to review the
last 10 years of the poverty reduction campaign held by the Vietnam Blind
Association (VBA) in Hanoi
on Aug. 5.
A former transport official, already
sentenced to 13 years imprisonment, is facing another 10 to 20 years in prison
after Vietnam’s
Supreme Procuracy laid new charges against him on Tuesday.
Bui Tien Dung, 50, was charged with
“deliberately violating state regulations on economic management causing
serious consequences.”

Experts call for greater support for women in times of crisis

While
discussing the implications of the global economic crisis on women, as well as
the opportunities for growth it may yield, Vietnamese and foreign experts
recommended that prioritised policies be put in place to support women to
overcome difficulties in times of crisis and continue to work towards gender
equality.
