Asia-Pacific military nursing seminar opens in Hanoi

The third Asia-Pacific Army Nursing
Seminar, themed “Boosting the global military nursing cooperation”,
opened in Hanoi on August 3. Attending the event
are military nurses from 14 countries, including Vietnam , the US ,
Australia , China , Cambodia , India , Japan , Indonesia , Laos ,
Malaysia , the Philippines , the Republic of Korea , Singapore and
Thailand .
The Government convened a regular
session under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on
Aug. 4-5 to review socio-economic development during the first seven
months and discuss plans for the coming time. On the
first day, the cabinet members heard reports on socio-economic
development, which showed positive results in various fields.
Vietnam boosts legislative links with China, Canada

The Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam National Assembly, Tong Thi Phong, on
August 5 had bilateral meetings with Chinese and Canadian delegations while
attending the 30th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly
in Thailand.
Vietnam is likely to achieve a GDP growth rate of 5
percent, keep the inflation rate less than 7 percent and maintain a budget
deficit of below 7 percent of the GDP, according to Cabinet ministers.
State Vice President
Nguyen Thi Doan has pledged to provide the best possible conditions for
children to take part in social activities and asked relevant agencies to
consider children’s concerns and interests.
Vietnam’s gross domestic product
(GDP) may grow 6.5-7% to around $108 billion, or per capita income of $1,220,
in 2010 when the world economy recovers, according to a national socio-economic
development plan drafted by the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
A
series of topics relating to the copyrighting of information technology and
communications are attracting the attention of delegates from the Asia-Pacific
region.
The
Vietnamese Foreign Ministry on Aug. 3 sent a diplomatic note to the Chinese
Embassy in Vietnam to
request China
promptly release 13 Vietnamese fishermen and their ship, which were seized by
the Chinese side, said the ministry’s spokesman.

Vietnamese border security has asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to
issue a diplomatic note to China
for unconditional release of a fishing boat and 13 fishermen the Chinese seized
on August 1.
